D'Vine
The focus at D'Vine Wine Bar has shifted, and the establishment reflected this by recently revamping its food offerings. D'Vine pared down its hard-hitting menu of full-fledged dinner entrees to a selection of smaller, more manageable plates. Munch on the bruschetta platter, pan-seared shrimp, or a Caprese salad while you toast to long workweek.

Carnivale
Carnivale Puerto Rican rice and fried plantains and grilled skirt steak with rice and beans, onions and chimichurri. Kleiner is known for his over-the-top décor and this 35,000-square foot space will not disappoint. Highlights include 35-foot high drapes, seven features the cuisine of Brazil, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Colombia, with a menu created by Mark Mendez, who spent time in the kitchens of Spaiggia, Gioco, Harvest on Huron and Patria in NYC. The menu offers choices like a rum-glazed pork shoulder with -foot high light fixtures, a jewel-colored skylight and a second story wine all backlit with vibrant colors.

Parlor
This contemporary American restaurant has taken over the former Soju space in Wicker Park. The menu includes classic American fare like cheeseburgers, shrimp cocktail and oysters Rockefeller, comfort-food injections like meatloaf and a smoked pork chop. The wine list is mostly American with a few international injections. Indica 22, who handled the light box ceiling at Butter, designed the earth-toned interior. The brunch menu includes stylish twists on comfort classics: a malted waffle with fresh cherries; brioche French toast with peaches and cream cheese; and sage-buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy. Chefs even are using their own back-porch smoker to create signature pork flavors.

Art Institute of Chicago/ Symphony Center/June 1st - Sep 30th
Silk Road Chicago
The Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and the Chicago Office of Tourism invite all Chicagoans and visitors to participate in Silk Road Chicago, offering more than 250 events in music, theater, dance, and visual and culinary arts presented by over 70 cultural and community partners throughout the city. The Silk Road Project with Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma promotes collaboration and a sense of community among institutions, artists and audiences who share a fascination with the cross-cultural artistic imagination symbolized by the ancient Silk Road.
The Art Institute of Chicago-from the Department of Asian Art to the Department of Textiles-will embrace the themes of the Silk Road throughout 2006 and 2007. Nearly 100 special events, including exhibitions, lectures, performances, family programs, and art demonstrations, are scheduled for Silk Road Chicago at the museum, beginning with the day-long opening celebration on September 30, 2006.
Anchoring Symphony Center's exciting 2006-2007 season is a yearlong Silk Road Chicago celebration. Dozens of colorful CSO and Symphony Center Presentsperformances and a wide variety of family-friendly presentations explore how cultures have long been connected through music. The season kicks off in September with two free CSO concerts at Millennium Park and the tenth annual Macy's Day of Music.

Fireworks at Navy Pier
From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the sky above the lakefront will fill with a spectacular fireworks display of color and sound. Each Wednesday night, soundtracks groove to the 70s (June), 80s (July), and 90s (August), with the party continuing with live bands playing all the hits of the decade at the Bud Light Stage in the Navy Pier Beer Garden. Saturdays bring salute to our hometown, Chicago, with crowd-favorite tunes celebrating the Windy City!

Chicago Blues Festival
As the largest of the city's music festivals, the Chicago Blues Festival draws more than 750,000 people who enjoy four days and six stages of blues music in Grant Park, at Columbus and Jackson. The main attractions of the festival for many are the sideshows alongside Grant Park, where you might see a big name stop by for an impromptu performance, or a future star giving a jaw-dropping set on a makeshift stage.
